WHISTLER WRITER LAUNCHES TWO CHILDREN’S BOOKS
Sara Leach, teacher-librarian at Spring Creek Community School, will celebrate the publication of two children’s books Friday, October 23 at 7 p.m. at the Adele Campbell Gallery.
Jake Reynolds: Chicken or Eagle?, an adventure tale for young readers, tells the story of 11-year-old Jake who dreams of saving seal pups from the talons of bald eagles, protecting his little sister Sierra and confronting the wolf he is sure stalks Hidalgo Island.
Mountain Machines , illustrated by California artist Steven Corvelo, is a colorful and playful look at the machines that manage a ski hill. Each machine has it own personality and on every page Marty Marmot observes the antics. Sara credits her success to Whistler’s Vicious Circle writing group and its writer-in-residence program, where she worked with Paulette Bourgeois, creator of the Franklin the Turtle series.
Sara’s chapter book for children ages 8 to 11, Jake Reynolds: Chicken or Eagle? is published by Orca Books and her counting book for little ones, Mountain Machines, is published by Poppy Productions.
